The federal government offers paid time off for vacation, sick leave and federal holidays and offers flexible work schedules so you can balance work and personal needs.

As a federal employee you will benefit from:

• 11 paid holidays
• Annual leave for vacation and personal time off
• 13 days of sick leave each year
• Paid parental leave
• Family and medical leave

The amount of annual leave you earn depends on whether you’re full-time or part-time and how long you have been working for the federal government. New federal employees start with 13 paid vacation days per year and this number will increase after three years of working for the federal government and again after 15 years.
